Exposure Therapy

From a girl who’s afraid of spiders

Westcoast

I wrote this “poem” after consolidating and moving all the firewood on the property into one cohesive and protected pile. Although I grew up immersed in the outdoors, I’ve never been a big fan of spiders. However; after spending about 5 days hauling a stacking firewood -which forced me to spend a lot of time up close and personal with an inordinate amount of them- my fear slowly shifted to curiosity, which in turn gave way to acceptance and appreciation. I’d say my relationship with spiders is now one of respect and healthy boundaries, (instead of panicked swatting and crying for help). Hope you enjoy!
