Shopkeeper terms
This is a draft. It hasn't been reviewed by a lawyer yet and may change before Shopkeeper pages fully open.
What a shop page is
Field Journal helps people find independent outdoor makers and small shops. Your page tells your story and shows what you make. Field Journal is not the seller: people buy from you on your own website, by email or however you choose. Field Journal doesn't take payment, hold money, ship anything or make bookings.
Who can have a page
Independent makers, artists and small shops whose work fits the outdoor and natural world: flies and tackle, rods, knives, leather and canvas, woodwork, art and prints, books, wild-food goods, small-batch gear, and repairs or custom work. Guided trips, hunts, fishing trips, lodges and outfitting aren't listed for now.
Approval
Every shop is checked by Field Journal before it goes public. We can turn down, pause or remove a shop or a listing, and we'll tell you why.
Honest listings
Describe what you sell truthfully. Keep prices, availability and details up to date — you are responsible for them, and for your own sales terms, shipping, warranties, returns and refunds. No fake, copied or counterfeit goods and no misleading claims.
Safe and legal
Only list things that are legal to sell where you and your buyers are, and follow the rules that apply to you (for example licences, product safety, and rules for shipping knives or blades). If a service needs a qualification or licence, you must hold it.
Your photos and words
Only upload photos, writing and logos you made or have permission to use. Photos must be real — no AI-generated pictures, the same as the rest of the site. Hidden location details are removed from photos when you upload them.
Camp rules apply
The same community guidelines apply to shop pages: no hate, no sexual content, and be good company.
Reviews
When reviews open, don't review your own shop, ask friends to post fake reviews, or pressure people to change a fair review. Honest negative reviews stay up.
Privacy
Only the contact name, email and links you choose to show are public. Treat anything a customer tells you with care and follow privacy law when you handle their details.
Referral fees (optional, not running yet)
Field Journal may later offer an optional referral agreement — proposed at 10% of sales that you and Field Journal agree came from Field Journal. It only applies if you sign up for it separately, it is reported and invoiced by hand, and a click is never counted as a sale. Shops in the agreement will be marked so readers know.
Reporting and leaving
Tell Field Journal about anything that looks wrong. You can close your shop at any time from your shop page settings.
